Utah Board Of Water Resources Approved Application

  • South Despain Ditch Company Granite, Utah, 84092 United States (map)

Dear South Despain Ditch Company Shareholders,

The Utah Board of Water Resources approved our application for a grant to partially fund the installation of water meters on the South Despain Ditch Company (SDDC) system. All SDDC users are required to have a meter. Your SDDC Board of Directors is prepared to begin the installation of meters immediately.

We are not alone in this statewide metering project.

The Board of Water Resources approved $190,000,000 in grants which will partially fund the installation of 114,000 meters statewide. The idea is to conserve precious water resources in Utah. We plan to do our part.

Your SDDC Board of Directors encourages you to judiciously use secondary water. We view this metering project and the conservative use of secondary water as very manageable projects. With foresight, your SDDC Water Master, Bryce John, has reserved 100 meters for installation this year.

Our Water Conservation Plan, very briefly, includes these points:

  1. Install Meters
  2. Reduce secondary water use by 10%
  3. Help us all learn to read and use the data provided by our meters.
  4. Learn more about drought tolerant and native plants.
  5. Learn best watering practices given the geology of our individual lots.

We will share additional information as it develops.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Sincerely,

The South Despain Ditch Company Board of Directors
